Sue Beets-Atkinson is the Global VicePresident of Sustainability for SBM Management Services, LP.  With more than 26 years of resource management and recycling experience, she has successfully designed and implemented many large and complex recycling programs for a multitude of Fortune 500 companies throughout the United States.

Sue was a key player in founding the Solid Waste Management programs for a large computer manufacturer in the United States, a program which yielded 91.2% diversion nationally, which was unheard of in 2005. 

An integral leader in the Zero Waste movement and industry expert, Beets-Atkinson’s involvement has included her current role as Chair of the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) TRUE (Total Resource Use and Efficiency) Zero Waste Advisory Council and Chair of the zero waste professional accreditation and 3rd party Facility Scorecard.

At SBM, Sue has served as:

  • National Recycle manager for six years at the Roseville, CA HP facility, 1993-1999. 

  • Hewlett Packard program manager (custodial/recycle) for four years managing sites at Roseville/ Woodland, CA, Nashville/Memphis Tennessee, and Richmond Virginia, 1999-2005

  • Corporate sustainability manager, 2005 through 2016: 

    • Director of sustainability, effective January 1, 2017 

    • USGBC LEED AP Existing Buildings O+M

      • In 2006, SBM managed the HP account to a overall diversion of 90.3%; achieving Zero Waste business compliance with a number of locations while others were on the “Road to Zero Waste Success”.
